These are the online pages of The Ontario Shuffler (TOS) booklet, the newsletter of the Ontario Shuffleboard Association, made available for viewing or home-printing.
In September each year, the paper version of the newsletter is created, printed and mailed to those OSA members who do not use the internet. Althogh the newsletter is based on the OSA website, www.theontarioshuffler.org, the two publications are organized much differently, the one for printed half-size paper pages, the other for the dynamics of computer screens.
Format: The paper newsletter is published in an economical booklet form, each page being half sheet of fold-over common 8 1//2 x 11 inch paper. The pages images here were therefore created in print format - two pages side-by- side. The files are named for the pages they contain. For example, file p3,8.pdf contains the side-by-side images of page-3 and page-8 as required for booklet printing. The file format is adobe PDF so if you cannot view the pages, you may need to have Adobe Reader installed on your computer.

Viewing the pages: Just use your mouse to click on each of the page images in the PAGE LIST below. Adobe Reader should automatically activate to display the pages on your screen. You will have to tell Adobe reader to rotate the page clockwise so you can read it. Printing (Simple One-sided): Just view and print each image from the PAGE LIST below. Cut each image in half. Assemble the individual pages in order according to the page numbers on each page, and staple. Printing (Two-Sided): If printing a copy at home, you may wish to try printing on both sides of the page, just like the mailed-out copy. The following instructions for two-sided printing should work for most ink-jet desktop printers, which follow a simple straight-through paper path. Sheet-1: (A) Print the covers sheet, (B) turn it over (lengthways, not side-to-side) and put back into the printer feed tray, and (C) print p1,10. Check that result by folding in half so the cover shows as the outside. Open it. Is page-1 on the left where it should be, and right-side-up? If so, great! If not, try again (Some printers print on the bottom side of the sheets, some print on the top. If your first attempt results in one side blank and the other in an overprint mess, in step-B, you do not need to turn the sheet over before putting it back into the feed tray.) Sheet-2: Similarly, print p9,2 and on the back print p3,8. fold in half with page-2 on the outside and check inside for page-3 is on left, right-side-up. Sheet-3: Lastly, print p7,4 and on the back print p5,6, fold with page-4 on the outside, and page-5 should be inside on the left right-side-up. After printing, the sheets are then stacked in appropriate page order, folded down the middle and stapled if required. |
