HOW TO PRINT A WEB PAGE

These instructions tell you how to print a web page so that it all prints.

The basic problem is that there can be too much on a web page to fit on a print page, unless you set either or both of the following print options in your browser (Internet Explorer is used in this example, but ther browsers have the same options). Use your browser Print Preview facility to set the print options. There are several ways to get into the Print Preview screen, and the example here shows one of those ways, using Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE).

(A) Print in "landscape" mode. This in effect, turns your paper sideways so it is wider. Of course, it is then shorter, but the print will simply continue on the next page.

(B) Print everything proportioately smaller.

  1. Use IE to view the page you wish to print. See Example-1 at right.
  2. Right-click on a blank spot on the web page you want to print. This will pop up a context menu containing a Print Preview entry.
(It is possible to right click on a spot where the contect menu does not have a Print Preview entry. If so, just right click on another spot.)
  3. Click on Print Preview in the pop-up menu, as shown hilighted in the example on the right.
  4. Example-2 below, shows where to click to set Landscape Mode.
  5. Example-2 also shows the location of the Print Size control. See the effect of different settings before you print.
  6. As an excercise, print this page.
Example-1: part of the web page to be printed.
