Booklet

These instructions tell you how to print the booklet using three standard 8.5" x 11" sheets of paper. You print on both sides of each sheet, two pages of the booklet on a side. When you assemble the two-sided sheets, then - "Viola!", a complete 12-page booklet.

Here we go - there are 7 steps:

  1. Print Pages 5,6: Click HERE to activate Adobe Reader with Pages 5,6 and then click on the Adobe print icon. Close your Adobe reader window so you can see these instructions again. (1b) Now carefully take the sheet from the printer output tray turn it over (*usually end-to-end, not side-to-side) and put the sheet back into you printer paper-feed tray. Now you are ready to go on to the next step. Note: This works on most desktop in-jet printers to set up the next page in the paper-feed tray so the next two pages will will print on the back of pages 5,6 and right-side-up.

  2. Print Pages 4,7 (on the back of Pages 5,6): (Click HERE to activate Adobe Reader with Pages 4,7, and then click on the Adobe print icon.) Pages 4,7 will print on the back of Pages 5,6. Close your Adobe reader window so you can see these instructions again. Check it out - Take the page in the printer output-tray and turn it right-side-up (landscape orientated). Turn the sheet over from side-to-side. The two page images on the second side should also be be right side up. If not, go back to "1", above and redo, but at 1b turn take the sheet from the output tray and turn it over from side-to-side before printing Pages 4,7. *This means you printer is different from most so you will do the all three "turnover" steps, 1b, 3b and 5b this same way.

That is the first sheet done. You will see that there are actually two booklet pages per side, so at this point you have printed 4 pages of your 12 page booklet. Set this sheet aside.

  3. Print Pages 3,8: Click HERE to activate Adobe Reader with Pages 3,8 and then click on the Adobe print icon. Close your Adobe reader window so you can see these instructions again. (3b) Now carefully take the sheet from the printer output tray turn it over (*usually end-to-end) and put the sheet back into you printer paper-feed tray. Now you are ready to go on to the next step.

  4. Print Pages 2,9 (on the back of Pages 3,8): (Click HERE to activate Adobe Reader with Pages 2,9, and then click on the Adobe print icon.) Pages 2,9 will print on the back of Pages 3.8. Close your Adobe reader window so you can see these instructions again. Check it out - Take the page in the printer output-tray and turn it right-side-up (landscape orientated). Turn the sheet over from side-to-side. The two page images on the second side should also be be right side up. If not, go back to Step 3, above, taking care to follow the paper turnover method that worked in step 1b.

That is the second sheet done. Set this sheet aside.

  5. Print Pages 1,10: Click HERE to activate Adobe Reader with Pages 1,10 and then click on the Adobe print icon. Close your Adobe reader window so you can see these instructions again. (5b) Now carefully take the sheet from the printer output tray turn it over (*usually end-to-end) and put the sheet back into you printer paper-feed tray. Now you are ready to go on to the next step You are getting good at this by now (Right?).

  6. Print the cover pages (on the back of Pages 1,10): (Click HERE to activate Adobe Reader with the covers pages, and then click on the Adobe print icon.) The cover pages will print on the back of Pages 1,10. Close your Adobe reader window so you can see these instructions again. Check it out - Take the page in the printer output-tray and turn it right-side-up (landscape orientated). Turn the sheet over from side-to-side. The two page images on the second side should also be be right side up. If not, go back to Step 5, above, taking care to follow the paper turnover method that worked in step 1b.

That is the third and last sheet done.

  7. Stack your three sheets with the top edges away from you, as follows: Covers face down (pages 1,10 will be on the top); Pages 2,9 face down. (Pages 3,8 will be on top) Pages 4,7 face down. (Pages 5,6 will be showing face up on the top). Fold everything in half down the middle. Turn so that the front or cover is on top, right-side-up. Opening the booklet should show each interior page in order, 1 - 10. Staple on the fold-line.
